My First Best Of Breed Won By A Doe The Nature Trail's Bette, Broken Junior Doe, Wins Best Of Breed In GA
 April 2005 GA State Convention Perry, GA Judge: George Long
The night before this show, I had spent the night with a friend in Atlanta. We've known each other for 17 years and stayed up until 3:00 a.m. talking. I slept fitfully for 2 3/4 hours before driving on to Perry.
I had a nice show, and won some legs, but was very tired by the time George Long began to make his final decisions. I had just told my daughter Anna that it was time to pack up and leave when Tim Nix quipped, "Unless you win BOB." "Yeah right," I said, as I packed away a doe no longer in the running.
Then I thought I heard George say, "Best of Breed is the broken junior doe." I did not believe my ears--had to see it in writing!
Anna and I had to stick around a little longer (and boy was I tired on the drive home--7 1/2 hours), but it was well worth it!
On a sad note, after winning a BOB at this show and a BOS at another, Bette died two days after kindling during a time of feed problems.
