<<<<< Five Does and a Tiny Buck
Maximus,
the sire to this litter, is a blue tort that carries a fuzzy
gene and a
sable gene. Raven,
the dam,
is a black who obviously carries a sable gene (or something
of lower dominance) and a
dilute gene.
The combination produced a virtual
rainbow of bunny colors
Just ten days old, these babies decided to spend the day on the wire.
Luckily the day was warm and I got them tucked in before the cold night.

At 15 days old, these little ones are doing very well. They look like they
are getting Maximus' width, which is a very good thing indeed. We'll be
watching to see if there are any fuzzies among us. In Maximus' last litter
(with Mary's Abby), there were none, but with Y&K's Athena, we got a gorgeous
blue fuzzy.

My little blue baby has developed a nasty eye infection.
I'm treating it three times per day with tri-optic ointment and it's improving.
The colors are still baffling me. The darkest is a black, but I would
swear that one of the blue torts (the far left) is really a smoke pearl. I
just can't see how that could happen, though. I think I need to breed
Maximus with a ruby-eyed white to see what his "C" genes are.

Here's a more free-form photo of these babies. They haven't
changed a lot since last week (they are now four weeks old). The blue doe Merlot
has an eye infection and eye ulcer caused by a lash turn under the eyelid.
The vet removed it, so we are looking for some recovery soon. The other
five are little Maximuses.

I'm still having problems with the blue doe's eye. She goes
back to the vet tomorrow. These babies are six weeks old. They are
gorgeous. Most of these bucks will be for sale in a couple of weeks.
Any of these bunnies could carry the sable gene.

These babies haven't changed much between six weeks old and seven
weeks old. The news at the vet was an ear infection for my little blue
doe. She's better now although all of her litter mates have ointment all
over their fur. It looks like they were all treated!
