Shelby, NC, Show, July 22, 2006
It was a great show. It wasn't over until nearly 5:00 a.m., but it was a great show! I am so glad I was there and I'm doubly glad that my friend Beth Vincelette offered to put my rabbits on the table for me so that I could show.

One of the sweetest things about the show was seeing so many rabbit friends. I did collect a nice assortment of hugs and greetings. I certainly could have gone home a winner after that part of the show alone! I'm only sad that I didn't have time to visit with everyone longer. But I had work to do and I had to get to it.

I worked with my third judge and have completed my requirements for my registrar's license. No, I can't register rabbits yet - the paperwork has to be filed with ARBA and I have to get my supplies. I'll post an announcement here when I have everything in order and am ready to register rabbits.

I showed nine rabbits. Two were probably too young to bother showing, but they are such cuties, I took the chance. My main goal for last night (this morning?) was to grand Padme, which she did with a BOS in show A and a BOSG in show B. Could motherhood be just around the corner for her?

My surprise news is that Rio was BOB in both shows! He's been looking good lately, so I just had to take him out for a spin. The extra icing on the cake - he was BEST RESERVE IN SHOW in show A! Of course, I had expected a more famous broken senior buck to take the class as usual, so I was doubly proud of the wins. Winning is wonderful, but winning against stiff competition is even better.

I also picked up a leg on a broken junior buck being shown for the first time. I think he's got a lot of potential - and has two brothers of approximately the same quality! His dad is Antony - an LL Brendan son and his mother is - drum rolls please - May! Imagination is a half sibling to Padme through May.

May is obviously m new "Katee." She's throwing large litters on a consistent basis and is producing some real winners, too! That's my girl!

I got about 90 minutes of sleep in a tiny tent between two sleeping girls on a very hard ground. I felt like we packed up for hours! My daughter Anna and I had traveled to the show with my friend Beth and her two children. So we talked rabbits all the way home. It was so much fun. But I arrived home on my last cylinder.

So, after a nice, long nap, my head hurts, my body is stiff all over, I am still sleep deprived - but I am so happy about this weekend.

It took me a day to recover, and I slept way more than you. Get yourself some Ambien, ha! Back pain will be gone, too. It was fun & I learned a lot!
