  Cleveland, TN, Show
Linda and I took off for Tennesee in the middle of the afternoon on Friday. We had dinner at our favorite restaurant. We arrived at the motel just in time to bed. So far, so good.

Unfortunately, I had awoken on Friday morning with a chest cold and was miserable by bedtime. I do believe I managed about 2 1/2 hours of sleep. But since we had such a good day ahead of us, the chest cold wasn't enough to ruin the day.

We started it off right by having breakfast at our favorite restaurant. I was a good girl and stuck to my diet for breakfast - even ordering tomato juice to start getting my vegetables in.

We found the location much more easily than the one they had last year. The facility was very nice.

Hollands were up second, so I had time to register some Hollands for a friend before we hit the table. I showed eleven Hollands, including one last minute substitute for May, whom I decided to leave at home because she still has some milk for her older kits. I thought she had weaned them, but I should have known better.

Hollands were assigned to Bill Whaley in the first show. I bombed, but it turned out to be a great show anyway. My good friend Linda Norris won BRIS for the first time with a Holland lop. Congratuations to Linda and Carson, solid senior buck!!

We had Josh Humphries for the second show. I was so excited when Arabica took her class and granded. She's bred, so the end of her show career may already be in the works. It was so nice to get that taken care of before her litter is due.

Arabica is the sixth offspring of GC The Nature Trail's May to grand. One more, and she'll tie Saynora's Katee's record of seven. Since Prince William has two legs already, I think she'll easily meet the record and then continue on.

I got a chance to work several breeds with Josh Humphries after he finished the Hollands. I couldn't get the Brittannia Petite to sit up, but at least I didn't get bitten this time! I got to feel and see some exceptional Flemish Giants and Polish.

Thanks, Josh, for taking the time to answer my questions and show me so much as you judged.

Linda wrote for a new judge Stacy Easton. Linda was really impressed with Stacy. Word is that Stacy is going to be a real boon to the rabbit world. I wrote for Stacy when she judged the solid Hollands. I have to agree - she handles the rabbits well, posed the Hollands correctly, and was very fluid with her comment, which all made sense.

Rusty Westhoff judged the broken Hollands. I was thrilled when Myrddin got his second leg with a BOSG. After that, Stacy finished the solids and had picked Java as BOG and Arabica as BOSG. So, Arabica finished up her career in style. Java was picked BOB while a beautiful broken doe owned by Kim Dixon was BOS.

I started feeding my bunnies in preparation for the trip home. I didn't even realize that the judge was ready to choose the Best In Show when I heard the Holland lop called out. I thought Java had won BRIS. But when I looked at the silver try, it was Best In Show!

We finished the day by eating for a third time at our favorite restaurant. It was delicious as usual. The only benefit of having a chest cold over a head cold is that food still tastes good. We dropped by the pharmacy for some medicine and then hit the road.

We pulled into my driveway at a minute past midnight. It had been harder than usual to keep up a conversation because I had pratically lost my voice. But the good thing was that I didn't miss the exit to my house this time due to talking too much (I did that after our Kentucky/Pennsylvania trip).

Today I spent the majority of the time in bed. I feel awful physically. I'm so glad this cold didn't start any earlier than it did. I would have hated to miss this show. We had a great time.
