  GA State Convention, Perry, GA
I drove 800 miles round trip from Virginia to Perry, GA. There was a great group of judges, but the Hollands entries were a bit lacking. It was a very small group of bunnies. But it was enough to give me some great competition - competition that beat my butt!

Congratulations to Mike & Tiffany Harris who was BOB in show 1 under Rusty Westhoff. It came down to their rabbit "BIL" and Java, but Java did not prevail this time. Java's daddy Boris, who hasn't been shown in almost a year, I think, came in third of 13. Thirteen was lucky for someone, but not for me!!

Mercedes won her 20th leg with a BOS in Show A, and her 21st leg with another BOS in show B. Gary & Susan Smith were BOB with their solid senior buck. We had Cindy Wickyzer for show B.

I really enjoyed showing under Cindy even though she didn't care one whit for my solids. I loved the way she shows such tenderness and affection for rabbits. She really got excited about some juniors and their futures. She pronounced great expectations for a couple of my broken juniors and for a solid junior shown by Lisa Reynolds. It was one of those times when not winning felt better than winning does sometimes.

Her enthusiasm sparked that feeling of joy and anticipation in me, too. I really love my rabbits and I enjoy seeing someone else loving rabbits, too.

Between show A and B, I wrote for Rusty Westhoff and got the chance to get my hands on some mini rex. I really appreciate the time he takes to show me good and poor examples.

Believe it or not, we were finished with Hollands by 12:45. And, thanks to the Harrises and Smith (the poor dears had to stick around for the BIS contests), I was able to get back on the road again. I arrived home a little before 8:00 p.m. I can tell you I definitely hadn't planned to be home nearly so early, but it was very nice.

Tomorrow is breeding day. I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work!
