Peter Rabbit Books (through first grade)

 

Beatrix Potter created lovable, memorable characters in her Peter Rabbit stories.  They are loved even by the very young listener and beginning readers alike.  Gift sets make wonderful gifts for new mothers, first Christmas gifts, Baptism gifts, and baby shower gifts. 

 

 

Max and Ruby Books (through first grade)

 

Max and Ruby were popular even before they showed up on Nickelodeon in their own show.  The siblings face the same challenges and situations as their audiences, teaching and sharing as they go.  Learn to count with Max.  Enjoy textures and shapes in their books.  Raise a flap and enjoy the surprises beneath.  These are fantastic books for the beginning reader.

 

Bunnicula Series (second through fifth grades)

 

The Bunnicula series is suitable for reading to children or for those ready for chapter books to enjoy on their own.  The books follow several household pets in series of hilarious erroneous conclusions and fun mysteries to solve.  But of course, Bunnicula isn't really a vampire . . . or is he?

 

 

Brer Rabbit (second grade and up)

 

Brer Rabbit and the Tales of Uncle Remus have survived the reservations of the politically correct to continue to bring us engaging characters and stories with wonderful morals.  Some would place them right up there with Aesops Fables.  Whether you are up to tackling the southern dialect or want to read them in standard English (southern-style, of course), there's a version for and your young readers.

 

 

The Velveteen Rabbit (through second grade)

 

The Velveteen Rabbit is a Christmas classic for children of all ages to enjoy together.  My husband, now 40, counts The Velveteen Rabbit as one of his favorite Christmas traditions.  We still love the video narrated by Meryl Streep.  About a stuffed bunny who becomes real through love and nursery magic, it is sure to charm your children as well as  you.
