Holland Lop - GC The Nature Trail's Lex - Senior BuckThe Nature Trail's Lex was one of those kits that looked so promising very early on.  It was just a matter of waiting for him to be old enough to show.  He earned six junior legs, including one Best In Show and then granded just three weeks after turning senior.  By age one, he had ten legs.

His best attributes are wonderful depth, a great body, fat cheeks, and a beautiful coat.  Since he's so young, he's just starting to get his head growth, but I'm seeing progress almost every week.

He's very high strung which can really hurt him on the show table.  I'd like to see him settle down and not stretch up so high.  Plus some judges just won't put up with his nonsense.

I'm afraid that's a family trait as Java was the exact same way (and can still be after a long day).  Hopefully as he matures and gets use to the drill, he'll settle down a bit.

I'm so happy to have him granded at a young age.  I can put him into my breeding program now without worrying that something will happen to him before he finishes.  But I expect that a year from now, when his head growth is nearly finished, he will show even better than he does now.

Lex will definitely be part of my all-grand-champion pedigree project.  He's a second generation, so I'll look first to does in my barn that are at least second generation grand champions to breed him with.

The wind kept blowing his fur up on his back during these photos, but I think you can still get some idea of what he looks like.  Notice the spot on the elbow.  He inherited that from his grandmother, GC The Nature Trail's Mercedes.
