Quinten is one of those few Holland bucks that is able to grand at a very young age. In his case, he turned six months old on November 5 and granded on November 11. I'm not even sure why I took him to the show - I think he was a last minute substitute for Rio, who was out of condition.

Quinten is part of a very nice litter, which includes Millicent and Mistoffelees. Millicent was 4th at Convention out of 161 solid junior does. Mistoffelees already has a couple of junior legs and is just waiting for a good coat and some maturity to grand.

Quinten and his siblings, which includes Isolde from a later litter, are the product of half-sibling inbreeding. I am not using Quinten to line breed. Yes, very tight breeding is risky, but when you are rewarded, it is often in a big way.

I recently sold Quinten's father Franz. It was one of those sales that made me nervous - was I doing the right thing. I knew I had nine offspring from him and his half-sister Jo-Jo and that the first three looked really good and the second three were promising. So I held my breath and took the plunge. Having a grand champion broken son to replace him has made me feel a bit better.

He's such a young senior, only 7 months old in these photos, that I am sure he has much room for growth and maturity. But what I look forward to most is an even better generation next time around.
